Meet your Peers
Mike Brown, CEO of ModBargains.com
Mike falls well under the original YEO age limits.  In 2006 Mike was named the Global Student Entrepreneur Award winner (GSEA), a unique competition amongst full-time undergraduate college students who are also running a full-time business.

ModBargains.com is an online retailer for automotive parts and accessories.  The Company was founded out of Mike's passion for modifying his own car.  Once he saw the industry business opportunity, his passion turned into a business pursuit and has not stopped since.

Volunteer to Judge a GSEA Competition

Learn From the Next Generation of Innovative Entrepreneurs

Did you see the latest issue of Entrepreneur magazine? If not, pick one up today! The Entrepreneurs’ Organization made it into the magazine, along with nineteen-year-old Fraser Doherty, who won the 2007 Global Student Entrepreneur Awards (GSEA). Thanks to his stellar accounting skills, unreserved ambition and his grandmother's old recipes, Fraser took home the GSEA’s top prize.

Serving as a judge and/or mentor for GSEA is the perfect thing to add to your list of EO member benefits.

Being Visionaries

Jonathan A. Michaels, EO Orange County Chapter President

Successful entrepreneurs seem to have one thing in common, we are visionaries. It only seems fitting that today's youth have the insiders edge on what tomorrow's buyers will demand.  What parents might find as internet safety hazards or web addictions, today's young entrepreneurs are finding opportunity.

I encourage you to participate as a judge or mentor for the GSEA Competition.  EO has already received 100 volunteer submissions, so get your name in there quickly if you'd like to be a part of what tomorrow's entrepreneurs are building today.

Sincerely,
Jonathan A. Michaels
Entrepreneur Organization, Orange County Chapter President

Leverage Technology to Grow

By James Cotton, EO London

Running a technology company almost implies that technology runs your company.  In many cases, I have discovered that this is far from true, and indeed, sometimes even with the best of intentions, it can be a battle.

What makes ModBargains.com unique from others in the industry is the focus on the website content.  The product listings are a compilation of photos of the products installed on customer vehicles, in some cases over 200.  The site includes unique videos and educational product listings.  To achieve this level of details, listings on the site require every possible question about the product to be answered.  Competitors in the industry simply list the product with one photo and a few sentences.  ModBargains.com provided a one stop research and product procurement source for auto customization enthusiasts.

Mike's entry to EO began while still in school.  After winning the GSEA, he chose to join the EO Accelerator program designed as a launching pad for entrepreneurs looking to qualify for EO.  He also attended the EO 20th Anniversary University in Las Vegas benefiting from the immense educational opportunities the organization had to offer and networking with the countless EO members he met.

Mike joined EO for the learning opportunities and the chance to become peers with a great group of people.  Mike shared, "I've always believed in surrounding yourself with people that are better than you, in order to improve yourself.  I'm only 22 years old so there is a lot I can learn from my fellow EO members.  I also came into the organization of an attitude of being able to contribute a youthful perspective to my forum and chapter.  I know a lot about my generation and feel I can help other EO members to understand that as well."

Mike's hobbies include basketball, running, tennis, snowboarding, poker and pretty much anything competitive.  He is also coaching a basketball team right now. His current passion is to continue to build his company to be even more successful than it is today.

Mike shared his most significant experience as an entrepreneur, "I would say that winning the Global Student Entrepreneur Award is my most significant achievement so far.  It really felt great to be rewarded after all of the sacrifices I had made and hard work put in during college.  I competed with an amazing group of entrepreneurs and after I won the award it was a major confidence boost.  I wasn't the only one who believed in my business anymore... now I had been given the vote of confidence from dozens of EO members.  That meant a lot to me."

Mike operates by this principle in both his personal and business life, "Do unto others as you would have done unto you."  Luke 6:31
